The Happy Black Woman Gospel Playlist: 10 Songs to Motivate You to Keep Moving Forward

April 21, 2013 | By Rosetta |

Lately, I’ve been adding a few songs to my Happy Black Woman Playlist to motivate me in the mornings, especially if I have a heavy personal issue weighing on my mind when I wake up. I’ve loved gospel music since I was a teenager – maybe even before that when I used to happily sing “This Little Light of Mine” in Sunday school as a little girl in my Grama’s church.

Although I no longer identify with any particular religious denomination, I still feel incredibly encouraged when I listen to music that focuses on the power of God’s love to help us overcome adversity and achieve great things in life. The beautiful thing about good music is that it transcends boundaries and speaks to so many people who need it at that time. And each of these songs remind us that no matter what obstacles come our way, we have the capacity to keep moving forward.

One of my Twitter followers recently asked me which gospel songs I listen to, so I thought I’d share my HBW Gospel Playlist on Spotify. I’ve been listening to it as I begin my day, ready to tackle any challenges that arise. I also found all these songs on Youtube so you can listen to them that way, too!
