Event Recap: 2015 Launch Your Business LIVE in Atlanta

I’m still in a daze from our 2015 Launch Your Business LIVE 3-Day Boot Camp! We had an amazing 3 days in Atlanta and it was so powerful to see our Happy Black Woman community come together in person for a weekend of training, networking and support for their business.

There were almost 100 women who joined us from all over the country to learn practical strategies for getting their businesses off the ground!

As usual…we laughed, we cried, we danced, we learned, we connected and of course, we feasted on delicious food and drinks along the way. I loved our signature tropical cocktail, the “Happy-tai!”

When I made the decision to shut down my nonprofit consulting business in 2013, I had no idea Happy Black Woman would grow so fast.

Just two years later, it’s amazing to see my vision turning into a reality. All I’ve ever wanted to do since I was a little girl was teach and now I get to do that on MY terms.

At the event, we enrolled a fantastic new cohort for our yearlong Happy Black Woman Mastermind Program, we pre-launched my second book and coming full circle to my nonprofit days, we were able to raise over $5,000 to support the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta!

I’m grateful to have an awesome team helping me build Happy Black Woman so I can serve this beautiful tribe at a higher level, plus give myself permission to take more time off this year!

Right now is one of those moments when I can’t believe this is my life.

I keep being reminded, over and over, that this work is so much bigger than me.

And that whenever I let go of my fears and just follow my purpose, miracles happen.

1. We rocked the dance floor…

On the first night of the event, we hosted an Authentic Networking Reception and 80s Dance Party, complete with a DJ and a photo booth! DJ Jack Money played all of our favorite old school jams, plus a few fun line dances, including the Wobble!

2. We had a blast networking…

The photo booth was a hit! In between the dance party and the “Happy-tais,” it was a fantastic way for attendees to network and capture fun moments with their new tribe of supportive business women.

It was great to see all the women who have taken our online courses finally get the chance to meet each other in person!

3. We learned how to stand out and shine with some live style makeovers…

On Day 1, my personal stylist and Image Therapist, Liana Chaouli came to teach us all about embracing our beauty and building confidence through our wardrobe.

It was enlightening to see the live makeovers done on stage for some of our attendees. Such pretty dresses!

I’m so thankful for Liana’s work in the world and the transformation she has helped to create in me!

4. We learned practical strategies for making money doing what we love…

Throughout the Boot Camp, I taught my 5-step system that can help anyone who sells products or services to get their business off the ground.

In a live environment, I was able to take participants through each step of the process with deep training, plus answer their specific questions along the way.

On Day 2, my brother from another mother, book publisher Jesse Krieger came to school us on how to publish our books AND get them to the top of the Amazon bestseller list! We had to take a speaker selfie before he left the stage.

We even had a special 2-hour bonus Q&A session where these brave ladies volunteered to be in the hot seat with me to receive laser coaching and get more clarity about their business ideas!

5. We pre-launched my new book!

I was giddy with excitement when Jesse (who is also my book publisher), announced that my brand new book, Launch Your Business had already hit #1 Amazon bestseller in one of the small business categories!

6. We celebrated our accomplishments and honored our journeys…

17 dynamic women were recognized during our inaugural Happy Black Woman Achievement Awards ceremony for achieving significant business milestones over the past year!

We also held an inspirational panel discussion with a few of my successful clients. Having these women take the stage to tell their stories and share their advice with attendees was a highlight of the event!

7. We re-connected with ourselves and our dreams…

“You are worth so much more than you’ve been taught to believe!” – Dr. Venus Opal Reese

As our closing speaker, the one and only Dr. Venus Opal Reese guided attendees through a love affirmation on Day 3 of the event!

8. We did it like we’ve never done it before!

Last but especially not least, love and gratitude to my team! Because of you, we were able to create a transformative experience for everyone who attended the event. I couldn’t have done it by myself – I truly had the BEST support system in the world!
