“A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.” – Tony Robbins
Back in May, I announced my big decision to move away from the DC area to Hawaii, one of my favorite places in the whole world. Yet, even after making this decision, I procrastinated on actually taking ACTION on my relocation plans. I kept asking myself, am I really going to do this?! Fear and doubt plagued my mind even after I officially decided that I was ready to make the move. It was only a couple weeks ago that I finally bought a ONE-WAY ticket to Honolulu, Hawaii. I’m excited that October 26, 2013 will be the first day of my new island life!
Has this ever happened to you? You make a decision and then feel scared to actually follow through with it?
You may have made a decision in your head or even written it down in your journal or put it on your vision board. Whether it’s moving to another city, finding your dream job, starting your business or pursuing a new relationship, for some reason you just haven’t made any progress since then. But maybe you’re getting clear that NOW is the time to make good on that promise to yourself.

I always wanted to start a sewing and interior decorating business, howerver I do have the material but can’t seem to get it going. Help!
I absolutely love this post. I love inspiring post like these, because deep down inside thats the life I want to live. I honestly didn’t finish reading the post before I needed to comment, just exciting for you. Taking action regardless of fear. Hawaii is one of the places I’m planning to visit within the next year or two. Maybe I’ll fall in love with it enough to relocate. And if not Hawaii then somewhere. DC is not where I’m trying to be for the long haul and I’ve said this for a very long time. It’s not the actual relocation I’m stuck on, it’s the “what am I going to do with my life when I’m there” part that has me on pause.
Your posts always seem right on time for me. I’m in the throes of some major life changes and I’m one of the people who’ll keep researching forever, all while claiming to “need more information.” I’ve finally decided to start doing things, even when I don’t know how they’ll turn out. It feels so much better just to act instead of thinking so much. Congratulations on your move!
This post hit home for me. I’m in limbo about some major areas in my life…or maybe not. I think know exactly what I want to do, but the path to get to my desired goal(s) is a little daunting. Nevertheless I realize I have to step out on faith and trust that my gut will not lead me astray. Point one of this post is where I need to live. I tend to think, analyze, research and repeat a decision to death. After reading this I am committing myself to take more action (even if it’s baby steps).
Yep – one thing every day or every week could lead to huge momentum for you! And once you start walking, the path always becomes clearer :)
Recently I wrote a piece about an Airstream. My fella read it and asked me, “Why not?” I’m on board with small steps. We’ve done some preliminary work looking at models and we’ve talked about how financially we make it happen.
In recent months I paid off a major bill so I know I can reduce, eliminate debt. Then I began exploring minimalism which has led to purging and spending less, thinking before buying.
My actions are almost organically leading us to a place where living in an Airstream is doable.
If there some fear, sure. But it’s not about if just how soon and everyday we chip away at the distance between desire and reality.
Kudos for taking steps of your own.
