Tara D McLeod is a personal development coach known for her witty, wise and creative approach to empowering women through her signature coaching program; 6 Weeks To Come Out of your mess, create your own COME UP and launch a phenomenal COMEBACK!

After nine years of marriage, two kids, a divorce, an additional nine years of an on again – off again “relationship” with her ex-husband; which included heartbreak and betrayal, Tara decided to rise from the ashes and reinvent herself.  Exhausted from reliving, rehashing and replaying the same sad relationship story.  She felt like she was a fraud living a mediocre life.  She was tired of putting everyone else’s needs above her own.  Tara finally had enough!

Tara leverages her personal trials and triumphs from her marriage, divorce, religious beliefs,  motherhood and her career to transform empathy into empowerment.  Her decision to re-write (HER)story, do the work and take the journey to reclaim her crown, enabled her to discover these 5 pillars: Live, Love, Laugh, Leverage and Learn which now plays an intricate part in how she coaches her clients to reach their goals.

She helps women, who feel trapped in an unhealthy relationship or living a mediocre life, find the strength, courage and confidence to show up for herself, make life changing decisions and finally start living life on her own terms.

When Tara‘s not coaching clients, blogging, or attending networking events, she can be found in the aisles of a popular book store sniffing the fresh pages of a self help book, masterminding with other like minded women, spending time alone, hanging out with her family and friends or obsessively combing through YouTube tutorials for ‘how to’ do anything to her teeny weeny afro.

Rediscovering your passion and creating a plan to get results.

Anita was a young mother when she faced the most difficult challenge of her life. At the age of 22, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and wasn’t expected to survive. It was then that she began to live a life of gratitude and her perspective completely changed. After overcoming a seemingly impossible obstacle, Anita realized she was destined for more. She woke up filled with gratitude for each and every day and believed she needed to inspire others to do the same. As she continued to face obstacles in her life, Anita realized she had a gift: she could turn an obstacle into a motivator. That’s when she knew she found her mission in life – helping others do the same.

Finding a way to help others fulfill their dreams.

After spending many years in sales and being a top producer, Anita initially dedicated herself to helping others in sales find success. As she applied her mentoring skills, she realized her passion could be used to help people in any field – and in their personal lives. Anita founded Empower to Produce to help ignite the passion in others who have had a curveball thrown at them. She wanted to share her story with others to make it clear that anything is possible if you persevere and believe. Today, Anita dedicates much of her time to public speaking and events, sharing her gifts of motivating others and inspiring them to follow their dreams.

About Anita Jeter-Peterkin

I am Anita Jeter-Peterkin; an awesome mom, nanna, and author of “Wrapped-N-Pink” and “A Moment of Thoughts”. I am a mentor, motivational, and inspirational speaker. I am also the founder of The Wrappednpink Breast Cancer Awareness Organization and Healthy Lifestyle Changes…Eating Better, Moving More, Stressing Less and the CEO of Empower2Produce for business and personal development.

I have always had the desire to help others get ahead in life and in business. I believe I was gifted the ability to inspire, motivate, and ignite others to become empowered to succeed in whatever they wish to do.
I work with people who have dreams to uncover their potential in life and create the lifestyle in which they are meant to live. Health, Business, and Ideal Lifestyle is my focus and my mission. I speak with women and men on a daily basis. These women and men have aspirations to do more of what would bring greater satisfaction to creating and living their ideal lives, however, become trapped in a rut because of a curve ball life has thrown their way. My mission is to help them to rediscover the passion they once had, capture their dreams, create a plan, and implement it to gain positive life changing results.

Over the years, life has thrown many curve balls my way. From losing loved ones, losing my job, broken relationships, losing my home, work place discrimination, failed businesses to being diagnosed with breast cancer and being told I would not survive a year. These curve balls were obstacles in my path of following my dreams to live the life I wanted to live. For many people, some of these life changing events have reaped havoc over their lives, causing them to give up and put their dreams on hold indefinitely. I could have been that someone. I came darn close to digging a deep hole and burying my dreams and goals in its entirety.

Instead of digging a hole to hide in, I dug deeper in my faith and leaned on God to guide and equip me with the tools I needed to persevere and create my ideal life. I believe the trials which I have experienced has made me a stronger, resilient, more focused, and determined person. With the ultimate goal of providing them the inspiration to move into a life of a world full of possibilities, I reach out to others by assisting them with hitting that curve ball and knocking the ball out of the park.

Outside of building my business, I enjoy spending time with my family, creative writing, dancing and local travel.

The mindset shift of transitioning to a plant-based diet.

Dr. Ruby shares the process of coaching women and families through the transition process. The most important part? Changing your mindset and getting rid of the misconceptions about what it means to go vegan. Dr. Ruby discusses how she helps her clients overcome this mindset shift and begin the transition process with a gradual change in eating habits. It’s all about getting your mind right and understanding the “why” behind this change. For Dr. Ruby, the reward is in seeing families become healthier by making these changes.

The inspiration behind Dr. Ruby’s business and how she made it a business.

In Dr. Ruby’s work as a pediatrician, she sees many children suffering from nutrition-related health issues. After years of seeing patients with issues like this, Dr. Ruby realized she had to help. Once she started seeing huge results in her own health and wellness from transitioning to a plant-based diet, she knew her mission was to help other mothers do the same. Dr. Ruby wants to see other families experience the same benefits in order to live healthier lives. She shares some simple tips you can start with today to begin making gradual improvements to your lifestyle.

Simple strategies that can have a huge impact.

Dr. Ruby offers some advice to women who are ready to improve their eating habits. She says that many of us overlook the source of many daily calories: drinks. The easiest way to deal with this? Replace sugary drinks with water and add fruit for flavoring. It may sound simple, but according to Dr. Ruby, it can have a huge ripple effect on your health. Another simple way to add healthier eating habits into your daily routine: have a smoothie in the morning. Dr. Ruby shares some ingredients in her daily smoothie to give you an idea of where to start. The biggest takeaway? Eating healthy isn’t time-consuming; it’s all about planning.

How you can eat out and stick to your diet.

As Rosetta closes out her chat with Dr. Ruby, they discuss some tips that can help when you’re on the go. Always carry healthy snacks. Dr. Ruby shares how easy it can be to eat healthy on the go. She also shares a favorite healthy snack her children request: Lara Bars. Dr. Ruby leaves us with some final inspiration to point us in the right direction, including how to cope with your guilty pleasure and make it healthy. She also offers her #1 tip for women who are ready to pursue their passion and turn it into a business. Dr. Ruby Thomas offers tons of insight into the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how making the transition doesn’t have to be difficult.

HBW035: Trea Branch: On a Mission to Help Women Truly Walk in Their Freedom

February 19, 2016 | By Rosetta |

happy black woman podcast_feat _TREA BRANCH 01_CAPITAL Letters_72 DPI

Today’s episode of Happy Black Woman features Trea Branch. Trea is a valued member of the Happy Black Woman Tribe and a financial expert on a mission to help women find freedom from financial struggles. She founded Trea’s Two Cents to offer private coaching and fulfill her life’s purpose of helping others create a life of freedom. Trea is the quintessential overachiever, which is evident as she shares her story. When she decided to tackle her own financial goals, she went after it on all cylinders. And that’s how she found her purpose. Rosetta’s chat with Trea is full of tips and strategies you can employ to begin your own journey to financial freedom.

My #mission is to help as many women as possible truly walk in their #freedom ~ Trea Branch

Paying off a 6-figure debt in just 3 years.

Sharing Trea’s story makes it clear that she truly is an overachiever. Her journey began, as it does for so many of us, with a mountain of debt. Trea realized it was time to tackle that debt and gain the freedom she desired. And so, in true overachiever style, she created a realistic plan that would allow her to pay off her 6-figure debt in just 3 years. It was this process that led to the creation of her coaching program, which serves women just like her today. After successfully tackling her debt, Trea went full steam towards her purpose: helping others. She shares specific action steps that make things that seem impossible sound, well, possible. They key? According to Trea, it all comes down to planning.

A step-by-step process to kicking debt.

As Trea shares the action steps that can get you out of debt, it all sounds realistic. She breaks it down into simple, yet emotional, steps anyone can tackle if they’re ready to get out of debt. Her main tips? Start with a realistic picture of your debt, and then take the emotion out of spending. Trea explains that we are a society that sees spending as a “need”, when it’s actually about buying the things that are important to us. When you remove the emotion from the equation, it makes it possible to set realistic expectations and create a plan that will effectively lead you to financial freedom.

Why it’s possible for ANYONE to get out of debt.

Trea delves into her belief that, with the right planning and accountability, anyone can tackle debt. Starting with a clear picture of what you owe and then looking at your spending habits will make it obvious where you can cut spending. It’s not always easy, Trea says, but the freedom you gain makes it all worth it. She shares some areas that were difficult for her to cut back on when she faced her own spending habits, and how she overcame these obstacles. Trea shares her “cash spending” paycheck plan and how it helps her track her spending down to the penny. Controlling your spending, according to Trea, is all about being honest with yourself about where your money goes and creating a plan to control it.

Making real change in people’s lives.

As a busy entrepreneur with a demanding 9-5 job, Trea manages to maintain focus on the things that make her a Happy Black Woman. She shares the importance of having support, which in her case comes from her husband Tyrone. Trea also how rewarding it is to be able to help people make real change in their lives and see the weight that comes with financial pressure being lifted from their shoulders. As Rosetta & Trea’s chat comes to an end, Trea shares one last tip for women who are at the start of their journey. If you’re ready to rid yourself of debt and create true freedom in your life, you don’t want to miss this episode of Happy Black Woman.

About Trea Branch

Trea S. Branch is a Money Transformation Coach and Speaker helping women break free of debt, so they can live a life of freedom, a life where they can afford their dreams.

Growing up in a small town in Michigan, she did everything she was “supposed” to do. She overachieved in high school, received her BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Before the age of 30, she had two strong Fortune 500 companies on her resume and was earning over $100,000/year.

But with all of her success came very little knowledge of how to handle her money and a massive amount of student debt. Year after year, promotion after promotion, she still somehow needed more money. Little did she know, her student debt and lack of money management skills would ensure she always lived paycheck to paycheck, seeing little financial growth.

All of this changed when Trea and her husband set their first financial goal, their wedding. Trea and Tyrone were so focused on avoiding credit card debt that they stripped their spending, saved, and paid for their downtown Chicago wedding & Venice, Italy honeymoon with $0 credit card debt. They even had money left over to kick-start their savings!

Seeing this level of progress made her curious about what else she could accomplish when she was more purposeful with her money. So in 2014, she set her ultimate goal of paying off $180,000 of student debt in 3 years.
Trea has taken the strong, financial principles that are helping her reach debt-freedom by 2017, and applied them to a Private Coaching Program that helps her clients pay off their big debt, all while building the healthy money habits that will keep them out of debt.

Why do we need healthy relationships?

All too often, we overlook the value of healthy relationships in our lives and the impact they can make. Cynthia shares how healthy relationships improve our quality of life and how easy it is to get derailed by unhealthy ones. She delves into her belief that in order to have a better life, you have to have better relationships. Cynthia goes on to share some action steps that can easily be implemented to make a real impact in your own life. She explains why it’s our relationship with ourselves that is the foundation for all other relationships. Without self-love, it’s impossible to build a healthy relationship with anyone else.

Healthy boundaries are the foundation of self-love.

Cynthia shares a challenge Christian women face when trying to build healthy relationships: setting boundaries. There is the belief, says Cynthia, that saying “no” isn’t the “Christian thing to do”. According to Cynthia, this couldn’t be more wrong. She discusses the value of setting boundaries and why it’s important to your own well-being and your ability to practice self-love. It’s okay to say no, even though it may take some time to get used to it. Cynthia goes on to share some insight into the strategies she uses day-to-day to keep focused and on track.
