Do You Trust Yourself to Make the Right Decisions?

August 16, 2016 | By Rosetta |

Trust yourselfThe theme of my life right now can be summed up in 2 words:

Growth and expansion.

Yesterday, I signed a major contract with a marketing agency to re-brand Happy Black Woman, replace our 3-year old website and get the company what they call, “Oprah-ready!”

Throughout the day, I also had meetings with my core business team – my weekly accountability partner, my Operations Manager, Program Manager and my Event Manager.

Then, I ended my day in the kitchen doing what I love, cooking smothered pork chops, eating dinner with my boo and listening to Boney James playing on the stereo.

Before I went to bed, I wrote this in my gratitude journal:

I’m thankful for the clarity that comes whenever I trust myself and just say YES to doing exactly what I want, instead of overanalyzing everything.

So let me ask you a question…

Do you trust yourself to make the right decisions?

What I’ve noticed is that nothing in my life or business works well when I second-guess myself.

However, the faster I make DECISIONS that are in alignment with my desires, the faster I see RESULTS when it comes to my goals and dreams.

When you don’t trust yourself, you get sidetracked with doubt and fear.

But when you DO?

That’s when you can manifest anything you want in your life.

Decisions = results.

And if you’re not getting the results you want, maybe it’s time for you to stop being so afraid to make decisions!

Quit asking everyone else around you what you SHOULD do and simply do what it is that in your heart, you truly WANT to do.

As Dr. Wayne Dyer reminds us:

“Trusting yourself is trusting the wisdom that created you.”

And life is so much easier when you do.

Love,

Rosetta

P.S. If you’re ready to begin trusting yourself at a higher level and finally get everything you want in life, I invite you to join my “Manifest Your Vision” 5-Day Mindset Challenge. To date, we have had over 500 women participating from all over the world!

There Will Always Be Something “Going On”

August 15, 2016 | By Rosetta |

Mother With Baby Working In Office At Home

I was on a coaching call with one of my private clients the other day and we were discussing her desire to host her first live event.

Her concern was that there were a lot of things “going on” in her personal life and she wouldn’t have the time to focus on planning the event.

But by the end of the call, together we were able to come up with a plan that would allow her to fulfill her dream of hosting the event AND be fully supported so she wouldn’t be so stressed out in the process.

Essentially, my question to her and to you was:

If not now…WHEN?

If you read my last post, I shared about some of the challenges I’ve recently experienced.

Life happens. Curveballs get thrown at you.

And unfortunately, you can’t predict them.

Especially when you’re upleveling on the path to manifest your vision.

So you can’t base your actions on what’s “going on” in your life.

Because there will ALWAYS be something “going on.”

Because Black Women Matter

July 7, 2016 | By Rosetta |

rp_6714178943_d80769a98a_z.jpg

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” – Audre Lorde

It’s about 7:00pm here in Honolulu, and I’m sitting at my desk in my office.

I actually sat down to write a very different post today.

One about how you can use speaking to fulfill your purpose, make a difference and earn good money at the same time.

While that is an interesting topic for the women in our community, it was difficult for me to write about that when I know that today, most of us in our Happy Black Woman tribe are dealing with a very disturbing reality.

All day, I’ve been glued to my Facebook feed.

Which is weird for me since I typically avoid trending topics on social media because of all the negative news and silly celebrity gossip.

I especially stay away from religion and politics and the circus they have become.

But there was something about watching the videos of multiple black men being killed by police in the United States over the last few days and at the same time also witnessing the grief and anger of my friends and colleagues.

I’ve been reminded that although we’ve come a long way in this country, we still have so far to go.

There are still plenty of white people who fear black people so much that they will do anything to justify our destruction, from attacking our character, our appearance and even our physical bodies.

They fear us because we are a threat to THEIR power.

That’s why the best way for us to rise up is to use OUR power.

As leaders. As teachers. As parents. As healers. As entrepreneurs.

We have creative power. Spiritual power. Economic power.

And no matter how many of us they kill, they can NEVER take that power away.

Several of my friends posted about feeling helpless, not just in the face of police brutality but when it comes to the ongoing blatant racism and white supremacy in the United States in general.

And like them, I’ve been asking myself:

What can I DO?

I can empathize.

I can cry.

I can pray.

I can donate money to the organizations who are on the front lines for change.

But to be honest, none of that seems like enough anymore.

What can I DO?

What I came to that feels authentic for me is to strengthen my commitment to BLACK WOMEN.

People (white people, mostly) often ask me why I named my company and my brand “Happy Black Woman.”

Their concern is that it “excludes people.”

People who are not black women.

Just like there are those who want to turn “Black Lives Matter” into “All Lives Matter” because to actually focus on the importance of black lives makes them feel uncomfortable.

And to be honest, at times I have wondered whether I should be more inclusive.

But the reason I named my brand “Happy Black Woman” is because what I teach is from my personal experience of creating a life of happiness as not just a woman or not even as a Black person, but as a BLACK WOMAN which has its own peculiar set of challenges and complexities.

Reading the comments of black women in our tribe who were expressing concern over their sons, brothers, husbands and fathers made me reflect on all that we go through on this journey to build a meaningful life.

I spent over a decade working in the nonprofit sector for social change and community development.

These days, I leave the on-the-ground organizing to those for whom it is their purpose and calling to do so.

But what I CAN do, and what I am being CALLED to do in this moment is the following:

To strengthen my commitment to supporting black women specifically.

To be unapologetic about who I serve and why.

To not water down my message because it might “offend” people who are not even MY people!

To honor my own need for self-care and to encourage my sisters to do the same.

To show, through my own actions, that as black women, we absolutely deserve to live amazing lives, despite what society would like us to believe.

To remind other black women that there is nothing wrong with us, that we are beautiful and powerful and free to do whatever we want and no one can stop us unless we let them.

To not let anyone stop ME from walking in my purpose, helping others do the same and enjoying the life I have created.

To inspire as many black women as I can while I am alive on this earth.

This is what I can do.

Be more courageous in service to my mission.

What can YOU do?

Love,

Rosetta

P.S. If you’re looking for a positive space online where you can connect with like-minded women, I invite you to join us in our Happy Black Woman Facebook Tribe here:

happyblackwomantribe.com

There you will find a loving community of black women from all over the world who support each other every single day, no matter what we’re going through.

Gratitude from Tokyo: Top 10 on iTunes & More Than 3,000 Downloads!

October 11, 2015 | By Rosetta |

tokyoramenI’m writing you from the Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan during a 15-hour layover on my way back to the states from Indonesia.

I just ate (OK, devoured) a bowl of the best ramen ever.

That’s actually why Haneda is one of my favorite airports, for the quality and quantity of foodie treats alone!

I can get my authentic Japanese food fix with everything from ramen to udon to curry to tonkatsu all in one day.

But I digress.

Today, I wanted to write a quick post to THANK YOU for spreading the word about our brand new Happy Black Woman Podcast!

In just a few days, we’ve had more than 3,000 downloads.

And we’re STILL being featured on iTunes under “New & Noteworthy!”

Yesterday, we were on the front page in the top 10 in two categories, which is not an easy feat with the thousands of great podcasts that are out there right now!

And for Android users, you can now subscribe on Stitcher here:

Subscribe via Stitcher (for Android)

Our launch week contest is officially over, but we’re just getting started!

It’s not too late to share the love and set aside some time to listen in to our first 3 episodes this week.

As for me, I’m listening to the new Drake mixtape right now on Spotify, What a Time to Be Alive.

I don’t care much for Future, but when Drake raps about the grind and the hustle, I listen because it’s so real for me. (Plus, he gets me hyped up LOL)

The ups, the downs and the huge rewards along the way.

On the song, “Big Rings,” he ends the hook with the album title:

What a time…to be alive.

I couldn’t agree more.

It’s a wonderful time to be alive because it means we have the opportunity to pursue our dreams and actually make them come true.

Thank you for being a part of mine.

“I received my first speaking request!”

Kiara Blogigng School Testimonial Photo“Before I took the Blogging School course, all I had was a vision. I needed to learn how to put myself out there and offer my insight to a larger audience.

As a result of taking the course, I have been able to write about my passion in a way people can relate to and I have begun to carve out a space for my perspective online. As a result of putting forth effort into each assignment and engaging with and learning from the material and my classmates, I have gained the confidence to begin to leverage myself to family, friends, and co-workers.

I received my first speaking request shortly after! The person who contacted me mentioned how impressed she was with my site, which I can’t thank Rosetta enough for helping me to organize and fine-tune in our one-on-one session!

I recommend this course for anyone who is ready to establish their online presence without feeling as though they are fumbling around in the dark. You will be thoroughly guided and supported by Rosetta and a host of like-minded and inspiring individuals!”

My international journey continues…

I’m excited to announce that I was selected as one of four participants for the 2015 Vibe Israel Women Entrepreneurs Tour!

Vibe Israel is a nonprofit organization based in Tel Aviv that hosts week-long, all-expenses paid tours of Israel for online influencers and bloggers to meet the people who make up the local scene in the fields they write about. In return, they share their experiences with their millions of followers.

Israel has actually never been on my list of places where I wanted to travel, but when I received the invitation to apply for the tour, I became instantly curious about this small country that I only knew for its religious significance among Jewish people.
