Iron Sharpens Iron: How to Surround Yourself With the Right People

I had a great time in San Diego last week learning and speaking on a panel at my business mentor Lisa Sasevich’s Event Profit Secrets training.

I looked at this picture and realized that I have literally been surrounding myself with successful women over the past year, including the “Black Women Millionaire” Mentor herself, Dr. Venus Opal Reese!

All of these ladies inspire and motivate me to keep doing the work to empower thousands of women in our Happy Black Woman Community to create their ideal lives and businesses over the next few years.

Our community is already growing much faster than I ever imagined, so stick around for the ride! Just in terms of our reach, we’ve gone from ZERO to 13,000 Twitter followers, 20,000 email subscribers, 75,000 pageviews/month and 200,000 Facebook fans. On the revenue side, I’ve gone from replacing my previous salary to surpassing the 6-figure mark with our transformational products and programs.

At this point, we reach a LOT of women all over the world every single day and still, I am constantly looking for additional ways we can spread the word and help even more women claim their freedom through personal development and entrepreneurship.

I remember when Happy Black Woman was just a little itty bitty blog back in 2010 when I had first quit my 9 to 5 nonprofit job and I was writing about the exciting, yet terrifying transition from employee to entrepreneur.

As a coach, I love celebrating my client’s big WINS!

Not only does it lift them up, but it energizes me and constantly reaffirms my commitment to the work of empowering women to transform their lives.

Last week, one of my private business coaching clients booked her very first PAYING client for $1200!

It was such a wonderful experience to see her open to the possibility of actually getting paid to do what she loves – and eventually be able to leave her job.

I feel so blessed to be able to support the women in our tribe who are stepping into their power as changemakers in this world.

Do You Need a Business Coach?

My last blog post must have struck a chord because we’ve been getting some great responses from women in our Happy Black Woman community about their big business plans for this year!

Many of you are planning to officially launch your business, book paid speaking engagements, offer coaching services, publish your book, host live workshops, create online courses, start your blog, attend networking events, build your social media presence and much more!

And it made me wonder…

Do you need a business coach?

The reason I ask is because as of March 1, I’m going to be shutting down my private coaching program so I can focus on our upcoming group programs and events, plus do some more traveling this year.

So here’s the deal.

Right now, I only have space in my calendar to work with 5 private coaching clients before my schedule fills up for the rest of the year with events, speaking and international travel.

Time is of the essence, so if you’ve been wanting to work with me privately, we need to have a conversation ASAP.

What’s Next for Happy Black Woman: Our Big Plans for 2015!

Last month, I shared that I had been doing a lot of inner work to reflect and map out what I want this year to look like.

I came up with all my personal goals and my 2015 theme of “fun, love and adventure.”

But there was something deeper going on with me and with our community that I’ve been wanting to talk about.

Once again, I’m being called to become a much bigger version of myself – in my life and in my business.

All of sudden, new people and new opportunities are coming into my life that are stretching me to become even more of who I really am.

It’s like the universe is daring me to step up so I can make even more of an impact through the work I do to empower women all over the world.

And it’s all starting to feel a bit like “deja-vu.”

Have You Given Up on Your Business?

I’ve seen it far too many times…

You get one negative comment on your blog. So you just stop blogging.

You can’t seem to get more than 53 people to “like” your Facebook page. So you decide to shut it down and go on a “social media sabbatical.”

You plan a big launch, but not one person signs up for your online course. So you decide no one wants to learn from you and never offer an online course again.

You spend all day writing the perfect article for your newsletter, but when you send it out you get 5 unsubscribes. So you stop sending out newsletters.

You can’t seem to figure out Mailchimp, so you decide to stop trying to build your email list.

You conduct 10 free strategy sessions but no one buys your coaching program. So you stop offering it..

You see other people in your industry making money every day, but you still have yet to land that first paying client. So you decide maybe you’re just not “cut out” for entrepreneurship.

Now that I host several of my own live events throughout the year, I don’t speak at conferences as much I used to, but I still I get a TON of questions from aspiring speakers who want to make money by spreading their important message all over the world.
