VIDEO: What Does it Take to Become a Black Woman Millionaire?

I had a blast in this past weekend speaking at Dr. Venus Opal Reese’ “Black Women Millionaires LIVE! Luxury Experience for Black Women in Business” at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta.

On my way back from the airport, I did a Facebook Livestream highlighting 3 of my major takeaways from the event.

As of this post, I am halfway to my goal of $1M in revenue for 2016! During the BWM event and in this livestream, I had a chance to reflect on what it took to get me from where I was to where I am today.

What does it take to become a Black Woman Millionaire?

First, you have to declare that you want to be a millionaire in the first place! You can’t reach a goal if you don’t first set the goal. And I’m not talking about saying things like “I wish I could be a millionaire” but actually setting the intention in the present tense because you have faith that it’s going to happen. “I AM a Black Woman Millionaire.” From there, you can get specific with the “how.”
Do the inner work to increase your sense of self-worth. To become a millionaire, you will have to sell lots of products and services in your business, likely for thousands of dollars. And to do that, you must become the kind of woman who KNOWS she is worth that kind of money and more. You will need to focus on transforming your mindset and upleveling your life accordingly.
Surround yourself with people who want to see you win! As you grow your business to the million-dollar mark, there will be people in your life who get jealous of your success and many who just won’t even understand WHY you have such a big goal. That’s when you will have to prioritize meeting like-minded entrepreneurs and find new networks to be a part of where you can be supported. EVENT RECAP: What Happens When a Black Woman Stands in Her Power?

Just 2 weeks ago, our Happy Black Woman Tribe gathered in person for our 2016 Launch Your Business LIVE 3-Day Boot Camp in Atlanta to explore the question:

What happens when a black woman stands in her power?

When she stops running from her purpose…

When she surrounds herself with like-minded women…

When she invests in her own freedom…

When she stops procrastinating and takes action…

That is when she can truly manifest her vision!

Our theme was “Manifest Your Vision” and we worked on mindset, money and marketing throughout the weekend.

There were close to 150 women who joined us from all over the WORLD – from New York to France to Australia – to learn my proven, step by step strategies for getting their businesses off the ground!

We definitely met our goal to have our biggest and best event EVER.

What I’m most proud of is the sense of sisterhood we created in that room. It was deep, it was palpable and it was real.

During the event, we were also able to raise over $8,500 to support the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta! Here is a picture of all the ladies who gave from the heart in support of the next generation of women in business.

We learned together…

We laughed together…

We partied together…

Ain’t no party like a Happy Black Woman party! We had an “I Love the 80s” theme and danced to old school jams from Prince, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan and more.

We were blessed with wisdom from my 2 amazing speakers – Dr. Venus Opal Reese, the Black Women Millionaire Mentor and Kimberley Borgens, the Solo to CEO Mentor.

Because of the incredible women who make up our Happy Black Woman Team, we were able to plan and execute a transformational experience for our attendees. I couldn’t do this work by myself and I’m so grateful to have a powerful staff that supports the big vision I have for our community. Special thanks to Quanisha, Natalie, Jillian, Melissa, Briana and all of our Happy Black Woman Ambassadors!

What Will You Complete By the End of 2015?

Aloha!

I’m back in Hawaii for a while and happy to be “home.”

My Airbnb apartment has a beautiful lanai (outdoor patio) filled with colorful plants and flowers, pictured above.

I feel surrounded by life and excited to have my Sunday beach days again!‪

Last night after I got settled in, I walked to Tiki’s for dinner and had the best miso butterfish with brown rice.

It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, along with the pineapple cheesecake I had for dessert!

As you know, I love to eat and Hawaii is one of my top foodie destinations.

I’ve been traveling pretty much nonstop for the past year and it feels good to “settle down” for a while and soak up the sunshine, play in the sand and focus on completing a few important projects by the end of 2015.

5 Steps to Turn Your Blog Into a Profitable, Location-Independent Business

This is a picture of me working in my virtual office in Honolulu, Hawaii!

I have all my mail sent there, where the receptionist opens and scans my mail for me when I’m on the road, which is most of the time.

At this point in my life, I consider myself to be “location-independent” – which simply means that I have the ability to live and work from anywhere in the world…as long as I have a laptop and an internet connection!

If you’re not familiar with my story, you may be wondering…how does Rosetta travel so much?

The answer is NOT that I inherited a bunch of money from my grandparents or that I have a rich hubby.

I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth and I definitely haven’t walked down the aisle yet.

So how do I do it?

The short version is that back in 2007, I started a professional blog, which led to me starting my first business as a nonprofit consultant, speaker, trainer and coach.

For 2 years, I ran my consulting practice on the side, earning an extra $10,000-$20,000 a year on top of my 9 to 5 salary.

In 2010, I resigned from my job and I’ve been working for myself full-time ever since!

In 2013, I took my second business – Happy Black Woman – full-time and in a year grew it to over $100,000 in revenue.

Fast forward to 2015 and my business has almost DOUBLED to multiple 6-figures, all while I’ve been wandering around the world over the past year, including trips to Mexico, France, Israel, Argentina and Indonesia!

But none of this happened by accident.

Every day, I do the work it takes to bring in clients and customers – consistently.

In fact, throughout the last 8 years, there are a few steps that I’ve followed, over and over again, to launch my businesses, grow my income and create my freedom-based lifestyle.

How to Make an Extra $10,000 Per Year…On the Side

Right now, I’m at a business retreat in San Diego learning and connecting with some amazing women entrepreneurs from around the world.

In the midst of powerful masterminding, eating incredible food and drinking fabulous wine, we’ve been talking a LOT about how we can all make a bigger difference in the world with the work that we do.

So here’s my question to you today…

Do you believe you were put on earth to make a BIG impact?

Are you uniquely gifted at teaching?

Here’s the good news about speaking:

As a keynote speaker or workshop leader, you can make thousands of dollars, even with a day job and even if you’re terrified of getting on stage (more on that in a minute).

7 years ago, I hated public speaking.

But one of my mentors told me something that changed the direction of my life.

But a funny thing happened after that event.

Nonprofit leaders from all over the country began to invite me to their organization’s events for PAID speaking engagements!

The opportunities were coming so fast that I had to start using my vacation time to travel on the speaking circuit as a sought-after keynote speaker and workshop leader.

I started earning between $10,000 to $20,000 in extra income every year – on TOP of my 9 to 5 salary.
